Cold Geometry
Walking along the tidal basin in Washington D.C. one winter morning, I was transfixed by the distinct shapes produced by the cracking and buckling sheets of ice; a sort of cold geometry. I worked the images to bring out the translucency and luminosity of the layered ice. The effect produced is reminiscent of prints made using the photo intaglio process.
